Shopping as a Hobby

May 19th, 2012

It is not as often as many folk would like to believe, you do not need something everyday. Do you get a rush when you save money on something you have purchased? Compulsive shoppers have been sinking themselves further and further into debt.

Some people have the money to support their shopping, but many others are over charging on credit cards. Juggling money with cash advances or carrying balances over and over to different credit cards in order to support your hobby, you may want to take a second look at your budget. Putting money aside in its own budgeted section will work well in helping your hobby stay in control. Work through your expenses and from what is left over, make a shopping budget for yourself. Stick to that limit each month. Once that money is gone, you have to wait to the next month before you can return to your favorite past time. Split it up week to week if a monthly budget is too hard for you to control. Concentrate your spending on what you, your family or household truly needs and save the extras for the money that may be left over.

When there is nothing planned during a day off from work, a vacation, or just getting together with friends, do you find yourself shopping? Do you find that when you are bored or you get a notice about a sale. you find yourself shopping? You may just have shopping as a hobby.

Fees for Debt Relief

May 18th, 2012

Credit counseling agencies are non-profit and for-profit.

When you take out a payday loan, you will be paying a fee for your service. The fees are never paid up front, but scheduled to be paid with your pay off. If the company is asking for up front fees then call someone else. You will want to ask questions to the company as to what kinds of additional fees you will be handed if you do not pay your loan back on time. Any trusting company will have the answers for you without any pressure to sign up with their company.

Debt relief programs will charge you fees in order to pay for their services. They will work on creditors lowering your debt amount saving you money on that debt. Promises and guarantees are misguiding you to sign with their company. Any fees you pay will again be attached to payment of service. Once the deal has been made with a creditor and they have been paid, the debt program will then legally be allowed to collect for their services. Do not be pressured into up front fees for anything, they are illegal according to the Federal Trade Commission.

When you shop in the stores, you can find the price for items by looking at the price tag. If for some reason the price tag is not found on the item, you ask or find a set price check scanner within the store. I want to know the price for the item before I pay for it. The price needs to match the quality to make me happy.

  • Non-Profit agencies will save you money since they charge less for their services, but you will want to make sure they are not affiliated with creditors to get your interest made a priority.
  • For-profit agencies are paid for services and employees sometimes work off commission for customer sign ups. Request detailed fee information in writing – what are the fees and when you will be required to pay them. Ask if there are opportunities to have fees waived or reduced based on your situation.
Have your list of questions readily available, take notes and shop around. If you are looking for help with your debt, find the right company so you do not fall victim to any scammers looking to take advantage of your money problems.

When you are searching for help with your debt, there are fees for the services and as with any type of shopping, you will want to understand what fees you are paying and have it match the quality of service.

Credit Counseling Services: What to Look For

May 17th, 2012

When a cash advance is not going to help with the debt troubles you are facing, you will want to look for a credit counseling service that can help you solve your debt problem.

  • Look  for an agency that offers many services such as financing education and ongoing support.
  • Find a counselor who will meet you in person.
  • Find one NOT affiliated with creditors.
  • Get all promises in writing.
  • Take the time to read over all the documents before you sign them.

Here are some suggestions to get you started with your search for a credit counseling service:

Be leery of any company not willing or not offering these services. If anyone is telling you that you have to sign right away to receive their help, then good chances are that they do not have your best interest at heart. You have the right to take the information away from the meeting and have time to go over it with any family or friend who can help you digest the material. Getting an outsider’s point of view can bring up further questions or concerns that you have the right to request answers for. You are on your way to make your finances right, you will want to get the process started on the right foot.

uptake of personal loans increases

Debt Solution Options

May 16th, 2012

There are debt relief companies who work at lowering your debt and getting it paid off fast, but as stated in previous blogs, there are bad apples in the bunch and clear signs to watch out for.

There is a growing need for debt relief in our country today. Each individual is looking for answers with their own problems and concerns. Knowing what your options are and what to expect is a great way to start searching for the right answer to your money problems.

If you are in search of some quick cash to take care of an emergency cost, a cash advance is a good source of fast money. Many people are looking for larger monetary amounts or aide with debt far larger than an unexpected bill. If this is your case, begin the process by educating yourself.

Another large program that many with large debt are turning to are Credit Counseling Agencies. Many of these “not for profit” agencies are affiliated with creditors. You will want to search for organizations who have credit counselors trained by organizations unrelated to creditors. You will have more trust in a company who is trying to help you for your benefit n not their own. A credit counseling service that is run by your creditors will not have your best interest foremost within their program.

Find a credit counselor who will sit down with you one on one and go over your debt with you to find the best debt relief option for you.

Debt Settlement Program Problems

May 15th, 2012

Debt settlement companies who claim to be non-profit but actually are using this ploy to get the customer to trust their company over another. Other companies omit discussing their fees all together or try to present it as no fee or low fees. The  FTC mandates that debt companies explain their fees within their sales pitch. The fee explanatin presented may not be misleading to the consumer. The debt relief companies may not collect up front fees of any kind. The price you pay should be documented in the contract that you sign. Watch for companies who promise overly exaggerated savings from creditors. Make a few phone calls to different companies so you can see what is the norm for fees and savings. Don’t be pressured by the sales person. A company who forces you to give private information before they tell you about their program details is a company you may not want to trust.

Debt settlement companies are presenting lies in their pitches to consumers.  The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has brought suit to over a dozen debt settlement companies for such lies that prey on consumers who are searching for answers with their burdened debt.

You are not required to put all creditors into the program. If you want to keep a credit card out, you have the right to make that choice. Debt relief companies will not include all your debt, some creditors will not settle. A payday loan company is one of those creditors who will not settle. The original payday loan debt is too small to be lowered and still be profitable.
